School Age

10 Level Program

Our 10 level Swim & Survive program is a comprehensive program designed to take your school age child to an advanced swimming standard. We are heavily focused on developing the formal stokes, enabling your children to competently swim different strokes over long distances.

Lifesaving and Survival skills are incorporated as part of our ongoing program ensuring the children are very safe in the water. This includes being able to tread water, swim in clothes and be aware of potentially hazardous situations, as well as many other safety based skills.

ESS 1

  • Walk Through Water
  • Get my face wet
  • Back float with aids & stand up

ESS 2

  • Glide forward with my face in & stand up
  • Move with feet off the bottom for 3 metres
  • Submerge in shallow water & blow bubbles
  • Float 30 seconds aided
  • 2 metres Torpedo

ESS 3

  • Torpedo 5 metres
  • Freestyle 5 metres
  • Backstroke 5 metres

ESS 4

  • Torpedo 8 metres
  • Freestyle 10 metres
  • Backstroke 10 metres
  • Basic survival backstroke kick

ESS 5

  • Scull on back
  • Swim 20 metres using 2 strokes.
  • Freestyle 15 metres with good breathing
  • Backstroke 15 metres
  • Survival Backstroke 15 metres

ESS 6

  • Survival Backstroke 20 metres
  • Freestyle 20 metres
  • Backstroke 20 metres
  • Basic Breastroke kick
  • Distance swim: 50 metres combining 2 strokes

ESS 7

  • Survival Backstroke 25 metres
  • Freestyle 25 metres
  • Backstroke 25 metres
  • Breaststroke 10 metres
  • Demonstrate Butterfly kick
  • Distance swim: 75 metres. 50 metres with above water arm recovery, 25 metres with underwater arm recovery.

ESS 8

  • Swim 100 metres without stopping:
  1. 25 metres Freestyle
  2. 25 metres Backstroke
  3. 25 metres Breaststroke
  4. 25 metres Survival Backstroke
  • Demonstrate Butterfly
  • Sidestroke 10 metres

ESS 9

  • Swim 200 metres without stopping:
  1. 50 metres Freestyle
  2. 50 metres Backstroke
  3. 50 metres Breaststroke
  4. 50 metres Survival Backstroke
  • Sidestroke 20 metres
  • Butterfly 10 metres
  • Efficient & correct technique must be used.

ESS 10

  • Swim 300 metres without stopping:
  1. 100 metres Freestyle
  2. 50 metres Backstroke
  3. 50 metres breaststroke
  4. 50 metres Survival Backstroke
  5. 50 metres Sidestroke
  • Attempt 25 metres Butterfly
  • Efficient & correct technique must be used.
